My name is Jiacheng Wu, a current PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering of UC Berkeley. My advisor is Professor Shawn Shadden. My current research works mainly focus on the following three aspects: (1) use computational techniques to model/predict the long-term progression of cardiovascular diseases; (2) apply optimization and control theory to uncover the hidden mechanisms of cardiovascular systems (nature is always built in an optimal way); (3) develop physics-informed learning techniques to improve the time series reconstructions for cardiovascular diseases.
Apart from my research, I am an big soccer fan and an active promotor of soccer among Chinese students. I'm the co-founder and the current captain of a Chinese soccer team in UC Berkeley. My teammates and I want to use our passion to make a contribution to Chinese soccer, even the contribution is a very small one.
Here is my favorite quote from Albert Camus:
"In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger - something better, pushing right back."
